It fit and is sturdy enough.Fits well casings with an outside diameter of 6 to 6.5 inchesI replaced my broken plastic well cap cover with this cast iron cover. Way better durability. Easy install !We lost our home in a wildfire and nothing was left of the well house except the steel well casing sticking up. It even melted the heavy gauge aluminum cap that was on it! A cast iron cap seemed the answer. Alas, you still get what you pay for and in this case just a very basic cover not a cap. There is a difference. A true cap functions to seal the well head whereas this cover just sits loosely on top. There is no internal gasket or O-ring seal inside the cover to minimize entry of dust, dirt, insects or vermin. Any of these can easily get inside this one and down the well . A moot point because the electrical/safety rope outlet is not threaded to accept conduit or a plug as would be expected. How you're supposed to affix any conduit/plug is a mystery as no instructions are included and cast iron is difficult to drill and tap. Its just a really heavy ornament on top the well head and nothing more. You get the same effect as putting an overturned coffee can topped with a rock. Come to think about it, that might even work better. My well had a broken plastic cover by Campbell, this replacement cast metal version fit perfectly. The O.D. of my steel pipe was about 6 5/8". Not sure if the included screws are stainless, time will tell. This was perfect size, but unfortunately I wasn't able to fit it over the feed pipe coming out of the well. Even after cutting off the bump out on the cap the hose was too big. After I ruined it I couldn't return it though. However I would buy it again, just have to refit smaller hose on the well.High quality, heavy, awesome color, and so simple to install! I could not be happier with this, and if my tenants destroy another well cap I will be buying this one again! So grateful for such a high quality reasonably priced replacement!Much better than plastic one that has been broken since about 2 years after well was put in. This is solid metal, is not going to break when mower hit it.It went on and fit the two pipes perfect
