My 11 years old son, was cleaning in and he dipped in in water plus he accidentally drops the plug inside the water too. We let it dry up for 2 days, we turned it on again, and made waffles! At first it had a burnt smell, but it went away and was functioning again. Worth it! Can't make to make grilled cheese with it too!We had a Belgian Waffle Maker that was hard to clean so coming from that size to this, was a bit of a shock. But the cleaning was so much easier, we just took it off and put it in the dishwasher.I purchased this to make quick sandwiches for school lunches. My kids use it to make everything peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Nutella sandwiches. Tortilla and they put everything in there it's just easy to use for them and for me. It's also a quick snack when we get home or if they want something to eat they really love it because it's already pre-cut in triangles.I should pay better attention to the stated sizes here on Amazon. I expected something about twice the size of what I got. However, this is a great size for a small apartment and to make breakfast or lunch for one or two people. If I had more people to cook for, I’d definitely want a larger sized appliance.The manual was not particularly helpful and the company doesn't appear to have a working website, so I turned to the reviews on here, as some people have offered great advice. Susanajl (currently the top review) offers the best waffle making advice (½ cup batter and cook 3 minutes). I learned a few more things through trial and error: 1. Don’t add fruit to the waffle batter (adding blueberries made a huge mess). 2. Oil the cooking plates before adding food (I use a paper towel with a little oil; the non-stick surface isn't very non-stick). 3. Don’t peek before the 3 minutes is up (my first waffles were a mess, because I kept lifting the lid). 4. Pour the 1/2 cup of batter lengthwise down the center of the plates, so when you close the cooker, batter doesn't ooze out the front and/or back.As others have said, crusts must be cut off the bread for best fit, though not all loaves are created equally and some bread may fit just fine. The bread I use fits well with the crusts of 2 sides of the bread cut off. (I store the crusts in the freezer for when I want to make stuffing or meatloaf, so there's no waste.) I found that 3 minutes is the perfect cook time for a sandwich.I have found that it's a good practice to unplug the appliance the last 30 seconds or so of the cook time of the last batch. The appliance is still hot enough to finish cooking and I know that it is unplugged and turned off. We bought it for vacation so we didn't have to go out for every meal. Quick lunch sandwiches, waffles, and cinnamon rolls for breakfast were so easy. The changeable plates are convenient.I remember this from late 80‘s to early 90’s. I loved them then and now also. I use regular size bread,Sara Lee, but it over lapses to the other sandwich thus makes for a messy sandwich. Very good though. I’ve played around trying this or that. I found if having 2 sandwiches then pulled the crust from the bread. It helped me a lot. If your sandwich over flows it can be a bit awkward to clean. I have enjoyed each sandwich I’ve made, even making an egg sandwich. I like my sandwiches in this sandwich maker than my air fryer which I use quite often.Glad I bought it.En encanto ?We have it since two months now and it's working perfectly. Easy to clean and very fast for sandwiches. For waffles it takes a bit more of time, but its my first waffles machine so maybe I don't know. The only issue is that for the power, you need to plug and unplug the cable everytime you want to use it and I find it annoying.
