and the waffles don’t come out as crispy as they do in other more conventional waffle irons no matter how long I try to wait. Partly probably because I can’t wait long enough. I haven’t timed them but it is seriously more slow than my last waffle iron probably 4-5 minutes.Also the heat up phase is much slower so you have to wait longer to put the batter in. Breakfast that used to take 15 min is pushing 25 now.This waffle maker smelled TERRIBLE when I first opened it. I washed per the instructions but still noticed the smell. I made a waffle and noticed the waffle was stinky, too. So I soaked the plates a bit longer and wiped down the whole waffle maker. After that, smell was gone and it worked great! It does take a while to heat up and get the first waffle made, but speedy after that. Waffles are very cute, the shapes come out perfectly with the correct amount of batter.
