Description
Tarot are the true pioneer of Finnish Heavy Metal. Formed by the Hietala brothers in 1982, the band has been active for nearly four decades. Tarot's vocalist Marco Hietala enjoyed worldwide success as the male vocalist of Nightwish, but by that time he had already released several Tarot albums. The first four albums are Spell of Iron (1986), Follow Me Into Madness (1988), To Live Forever (1993) and Stigmata (1995). Blastic Heaven Records have prepared luxurious vinyl re-editions of all four, which are now made available on colored vinyl and in limited quantities.

I heard of Tarot via Nightwish. The link being that Marco Heitala is both bassist and vocalist of Tarot since the early 80's and of Nightwish since 2002.The thing about Marco is that he has a great, great voice,in the Halford/Judas Priest ballpark.Although the music has echoes of Iron Maiden, this album came out in 1986 after all,it somehow much more compact and to the point than Maiden.Good songs are here in abundance.Somehow this album still sounds fresh and now I want to get all of their nine albums but I only have three so far,all great. They had a new album 2010 and a re-recording of this album itself in 2011,which could be interesting.Unfortunately most of their older albums are all in the 'unafordable' bracket at the moment.
