It also contains sulfur, which helps lower the pH. I was able to see an improvement in my acid loving plants within two weeks. I could not completely remove the foil cover over the mouth of the container, so it is a bit messy to measure, as the directions state, it will stain many surfaces. I made a second purchase recently.
