this takes forever to heat up compared to the old onenothing to dislike, it is everything it is advertised to beI like this grill a lot and recommend it highly. This is an upgrade from a years-old Hamilton Beach contact grill. The teflon has started to bubble on that unit so I decided the time was now to start a purge of teflon in the kitchen. I specifically searched for options that included ceramic grill plates that can be removed to clean. I can't say that I really wanted to consider a Foreman grill (still regarded it as an "infomercial gadget") but the competition did not have overwhelming positive reviews. The user manual is not terribly well-written, but it gives basic good information for successfully cooking with this. I tried out the sear feature with a tenderloin steak and with hamburger. Good result with the steak, came out juicy like from a steakhouse. The hamburgers dried out too much this method. I really recommend cooking burgers at the minimum temp listed for beef on the lid (400 degrees) and it will still sear a bit of crust on the beef without drying out the meat. I've also tried chicken breasts and pork chops, no complaints following the guidlines in the manual. To date I have not used any type of cooking spray or oil on the grill, just bare ceramic as the manual recommends. I suspect the people complaining about cooked on food might be applying oil or else a marinade (or both) is causing problems. The ceramic grill plates are easy to clean. I have been removing the plates, rinsing under hot water at the sink and using a nylon bristle brush to scrub off the stubborn grease, then washing in the dishwasher. My 3-in-1 grill came with ceramic grill plates and the teflon (?) waffle plates. Mostly out of curiosity I tried making waffles. My only waffle-making experience comes from the hotel breakfast-bar waffle irons. I will say ignore the waffle recipes in the user manual, as they recommend 425 degrees for 8 minutes. This will burn your first batch. You can lift the top and check quickly after about 4 minutes and judge if you need to leave it cook another minute. Six minutes is definitely going to give you brown waffles. Also the waffle plates do not heat evenly, so really ditch the waffle plates and buy a real waffle iron if you make them more than once a year. My other "fail" meal on this was grilled cheese sandwiches. I suspected that the bread would squish completely flat, and it did. A sturdy kind of bead for a panini might give a good result, but a typical white or wheat bread cannot hold up under the weight of the lid.The grilling works terrific, cleaning is pretty easy. The controls could be done better. There is no indication on the LED array to show if you are adjusting time or temperature. You push the mode button to change between the 2, but there is no indication for the mode you are in. I think it would be good if the heat would turn off when the timer reaches 0, like other manufacturers do. Warm up time seems slow, typically 8-11 minutes depending on temperature setting. I'm not sure, but it feels like this could have been built more compactly for easier storage. All in all, I am still giving 5 stars because the basic function of cooking meat is very good. I've used it a lot over a month, and I will continue to do so.I didn’t like that after a year of using it sparingly, it conked out! It’s works ok but it’s definitely not built for longevity. Definitely not worth the hypeI was skeptical of this grill after reading other reviews on it, but after using it now for several weeks, I've come to think of it as a real gem. So far the grill and waffle plates are easy to clean...my hamburgers and grilled cheese slipped off the cream-colored grill easily and just a soft dishrag and a little detergent cleaned the grill plates perfectly. The instructions say to never spray the grill with a vegetable oil spray because of the residues in the spray that can build up and cause the grill to stick and I tend to think not enough people pay attention to this, then complain the grill sticks. The only problem I had with the grill is when I made waffles and used it without tilting it forward. Some of the batter dribbled down the back of the grill into the labyrinth of holes in the back "foot" of it where it was nearly impossible to clean out. This isn't necessary and the designers of this product need to change that. Meanwhile, I've learned to crimp a piece of aluminum foil over the back when I make waffles so it won't drip down into the holes and make me cuss whomever had the big idea to do this to a cooking machine. Anyway, other than that, the grill is a wonder to behold.Easy to use!My last George Foreman died after 11 years of use, so I've come to expect a few things. In my tests, I'm cooking kirkland frozen burger patties.1) The cord was too short for what I wanted to do. I have an induction stove, so I prefer to do my GF grilling under the vent hood and off of my granite countertop, where spillage may soak in and discolor over time. It just needed an extra 6" to 12" for me.2) The angle of the plates when cooking burgers had some strange things happen. fat would pool at the top/back, and almost undercook, despite being at max angle. To cook perfectly, I have to put close to the front. I think the angle may make the plates be further apart in the back.3) Nonstick plates work like a charm and wash like a charm. Seriously. My family eats alot of burgers. BUT....I was hoping for a little more effective room. I can only fit 2 1/3lb burger patties in the sweet spot to avoid problems from #2.4) The temp controls work well. I cook the burgers at 400 degrees for about 6:15-6:30. The I didn't like the sear function for burgers but it worked well for steak.5) I haven't used the waffle plates yet but they are quite large.A little smaller than I thought, but still a great grill! Have owned George Forman grills for years, would never be without one!Fantastic indoor grill. Once you figure out how the plates orient and snap in, absolute breeze to use. Made some of the best damn paninis of my life thus far. Also makes great sliders!Super easy to clean too, most food comes off easy with the provided spatula, and what doesn’t come off there just takes a quick swipe or two in the sink with a soft cloth.Highly recommend!Had previous model for 12 years (with waffle plates too). Old plates even fit this model!Very easy to clean.Ceramic plates are great. No greasing them up beforehand and easier to clean han the regular non-stick platesWorthwhile to read booklet.Love the temperature and time settings rather than the previous low-med-hi knob. More accurate for cooking.Drip tray is deeper and easier to take care of.Bulky though since it doesn't stand up for easyier storage.Les accessoires plaque ne sont pas disponible pour la plupart, le réglage de la temperatures nest pas tellement utile. Certe les gauffre sont grande ce qui est un plus. Mais le prix est trop élevé pour ce que c'est !Great product, I don't understand those bad reviews if you know what are you doing, you shouldn't have any problems cleaning, grilling, etc. Good price tooA sturdy and easy to use grill by George Foreman! It grills everything from sandwiches, to burgers, chicken, and steaks. It also makes great waffles too. I highly recommend this grill!
