Ever feel like you need an extra hand? This is it! You have no idea how many jobs this thing can do until it's on your sewing table. You might even make up more uses for it! This is a newfangled broom handle. It's not tiny like it looks in the picture, it is actually the size of a sawed off broom handle. It's number one job is to save your fingers from being scorched by your iron.Don't want to heat up the iron to quickly flatten seams on an economy block? Use this like a rolling pin, and you'll have the rest of the corners sewn on in less time than it takes to heat the iron.Having trouble holding that butterfly seam open to iron and thinking about just pressing it to the side instead even though your seam will be too bulky? Iron Finger to the rescue!I don't have time to list all the things it can do, so I'll stop there. I must get back to my quilting. Just get one, you will love it even if you only pick it up to beat your sewing machine when it refuses to do anything but tangle and break your thread. It's made by Clover -- that says it all. There is nothing they make that you don't need! You might even consider replacing one or both of your hands with this, it is that awesome.I just received mine today, and it looks like they have some manufacturing issues, mine came with a good bit of seaming from the manufacturing mold joint. As it was, it would not work for pressing, as it would have created a ridge in what ever you were trying to press. I was able to use a box cutter to trim most of the seaming, but knicked it in the process, so I can’t return it now.Other than that, it seems to work fine. Just expected better quality control from Clover.I have always used my finger to go in front of my iron to press seems. I can’t count the times I burned my finger s. One might think keep them out of the way but many times it is the cloth is still hot. I hesitate to buy this iron finger. Thinking it was just a want type tool. But I am here to tell you it is a must have. Not only saves from burns also aids in laying the seams flat making, ironing open seams easier. Well worth the money.I guess I can live without this one. I don't find myself reaching for it often. I think the edges could be finished better for a brand like this. I need to take a razor blade and shave off the seam edges. I find it a little heavy and the silicone sticks to the fabric so it drags when inserting inside to push out seams.I liked this tool to help me press the strips of fabric for my masks. I made a hundred and all these finger protectors helped a lot. Most of what I made were ones with ties because elastic was in short supply. This one is great! It's long enough to get a grip on and strong enough to hold the piece in place while you iron it smooth. It kept the fabric from moving out of place. When turning material that doesn't have room to press seam open, this item works perfect....and without burning your fingers. I couldn't tell you how many face masks I've made with ties for around the back of head. That way they can be worn has a head band and pulled down when needed as a mask. (Or draped around the neck.) The point being you will always have your mask. Anyway, the hardest part was pressing that darn seam and Clover Iron Finger sure helped.Well, I read the reviews before purchasing the Iron Finger, and they were right-it's huge! It does help for; ironing a 1/4" folded back piece of small fabric to hide a raw edge, holding fabric securely in place when ironing small areas, making crisp corners. It definitely helps in preventing the iron from scorching your fingers when you're ironing very small pieces of fabric. I haven't used it as a seam roll for opening seams but can see it's utility in that situation. I'm sure there are any number of uses I haven't even thought of for this product. I do wish it was a bit smaller, and maybe a bit lighter. But all in all another great Clover ironing aide.I have burned my fingers over the years while ironing and when I saw this item I immediately had to purchase and I am so glad I did. This item allows me to hold down seams close to the iron and not fear getting burned. The material it is made of is extremely comfortable and not slippery so it stays firmly in your hand. This is absolutely perfect for anyone who does a lot of ironing, whether for crafting or just daily living.Saw this on a shopping tv, was expensive so I got it cheaper here, it really good and I am pleased that I can iron the seams flat without burning my fingers, good dressmakers toolEasy to use so usefulEasy to use and does what it saysReally useful, have recommended to friends.
